  • Craft & Technique : Tilla hand embroidery is a Kashmiri craft essentially done using a thread of silver or gold on needle point. This classical ornamentation has been a taste of royalty since the start. This meticulous handwork starts with the Nagash (Block printer)drawing the design and perforating (Trombun)it so that the design can be imprinted on the pashmina fabric. The intricate motifs captured here are from the beauty of nature like chinar leaves, paisleys, and different types of Kashmiri flowers. Casting the embroidery is called Chaamp Traavun. This fabric is now passed to the tilla artisan, who handcrafts the mesmerising tilla work using two threads- staple cotton thread and tilla with the specialised Ari needle. Creating a perfect and long-lasting finesse.
