This is an intricate handwoven Natural (Khudrang) kani jamawar pure Pashmina shawl from our handpicked Artisanal Masterpiece collection. The kani design composition compromises beautiful multi-colour handwoven Kashmiri garden motifs all over, using authentic Kanis (wooden sticks) by master craftsmen of Kashmir. The composition of the exquisite all over floral & Floral and Paisleys jaal is completed with the gorgeous iconic striped kani border.

    • Craft & Technique: Kani weave cashmere Pashmina is one of the oldest handicrafts, originating from Kanihama area of Kashmir. It is legally not possible to sell shawls/stoles made in any other area to be sold as kani weave. Kani in Kashmir stands for small wooden sticks which are used to create eclectic patterns in Pashminas at the time of weaving. These hand-woven shawls/stoles are beautiful recreations of nature inspired designs using an exceptionally fine twill tapestry technique. A master Craftsmen takes several years to complete the delicate work of weaving, which is meticulously regulated by a coded pattern, known as the Talim drawn by the Naqash (block printer) for guidance of the weaver.
